Glee Concert 2015
Parents,
Now that our fall concert has concluded, I've been able to pin down some details for our choir trip to Seattle! This trip is for students in any auditioned choir (Lyrica, A Cappella, and Madrigals). We will leave by bus on the evening of Wednesday, April 29th and will return home on Sunday, May 3rd. Students will only miss two days of class for this trip. We have many great events on our agenda, including whale watching, the Space Needle, the Museum of Flight, Experience Music Project, a clinic with Dr. Geoffrey Boers from UW, Pike's Place Market, and competing in the Heritage Music Festival. I really hope that your child will plan to attend this trip.
As of now, I have a VERY TENTATIVE price for the trip at around $700. This price will vary depending on how many people come, how many busses we'll need, the girl to boy ratio, etc. Please know that the price could change in either direction, although I am hopeful that if there is a fluctuation in cost, it will be in our favor. The first payment of $150 will be due on Friday, November 21st. I've put together a payment plan over a 5-month span. The dates are as follows:
$150 due Friday, November 21st
$150 due Wednesday, December 17th
$150 due Friday, January 23rd
$150 due Friday, February 20th
$100 due Friday, March 20th
We as a choir will make our final payment on March 13th, so it is crucial that everyone is paying on time so we have enough money to cover that payment. Students are welcome to pay in larger sums as they please, however I would recommend not paying any more that $600 at a time considering the possibility of price change.
I am setting up two fundraisers to help cover the cost of the trip for the students. We will be selling cookie dough from Dehaan Enterprises and we will also have a mattress sale through Custom Fundraising Solutions. I have worked with Joe Dehann on cookie dough sales and he is very good to work with. I was skeptical about the mattress fundraiser at first, but as I met with the representative today I am very confident that it could be a VERY profitable endeavor.
On Monday, November 10th at 6:00 pm we will have a parent meeting in the choir room to discuss further details about the tour. Both of the fundraiser representatives will be there to explain exactly how the fundraisers will work. We will also discuss the itinerary and school policies in regards to travel. I would highly encourage you to be there. Also, the mattress fundraiser people will give us $5 for each parent that attends this meeting. There will be some critical information discussed and I would love to know which parents I can ask some help from. Many of your kids are involved in the musical so they won't be available to attend that meeting, but for those others I would recommend bringing your child along as well. I know that Monday nights are designated family time for many of you, but I would ask you to sacrifice just over an hour to attend.
I hope this information has been helpful to you. We have some big events coming up and I will need a lot of help to facilitate them so we can maximize the fundraising opportunities for the students. Thank you for your constant support to this program. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Stephanie or myself. I'll hopefully see you on November 10th!
